10 Best Shortboard Skateboards – Electric and Non Electric Reviews

What is a Shortboard Skateboard?

A shortboard skateboard – as the name suggests – is a smaller and shorter skateboard in comparison to all other forms and types of skateboards. The deck is shorter, the wheels (overall wheel base) are smaller, and the truck is stubbier. If it is an electric shortboard (often referred as mini electric skateboard) – then mostly the battery and the motor are of lesser watts.

Broadly categorising – Skateboards are of two types – longboards and shortboards or short boards (with a space). In the skateboarding community – skateboard is referred to shortboard. So all the articles and posts – comparing “skateboard vs longboard” – actually compare “longboard vs shortboard skateboard”.

Technically “shortboard skateboard” is a type of skateboard. Skateboard being a parent term – categorising into shortboards and longboards – both further categorising into many sub categories.

Meepo Mini 2

Meepo Mini 2

# Best Electric Shortboard Skateboard

Meepo Mini 2 is undoubtedly one of the best electric shortboard skateboards. It has speed, range, looks, portability and durability and is one of the top selling Meepo boards. Mini 2 is the advanced version and is a welcome addition. Although small it challenges Meepo Shuffle V4 – the latest longboard skateboard launched by the brand.

Motor and Battery

Mini 2 is one of the fastest shortboard skateboard. You clock 29mph – which is almost double considering other shortboards.

The speed comes from 2 x 540 Watts. For a shortboard – more than 1000 Watts is very powerful. The watts – give the board 30% climbing range. Another important factor which boosts the speed is Meepo’s latest V6.5 ESC.

Mini 2 has 2 variants. One comes with standard battery which gives you 11 miles of range. The other – and the most preferred one is the ER variant which boosts the board 9 miles further – giving you a total mileage of 20 miles. Regenerative Brakes – further saves 22% of your battery power.

If you are not living within city limits – than 11 miles is not at all an option for you. However we believe 20 miles is a must even within city – considering modern usages.

Build and Design

Meepo Mini 2 is made up of 8 Canadian maple layers. The deck measures 30 inches. The tail and the head are almost the same – having a flat blunt edge. Moreover it has a functional kicktail and a nose protection technology (not sure whether it’s Meepo patented or not) which makes it easier for the skateboarders to take turns, giving them a better stance.

However we believe that Meepo should have put a little concave on front of the deck. It would have a given a more stream lined shape to the board – further increasing it’s speed.

The standard version Mini 2 weighs 16 lbs and the ER variant weighs 18 lbs. Considering other boards – Meepo again is considered as one of the lightest electric shortboard skateboards. It can board 330 lbs of weight which again is a top limit. Most of the shortboard skateboards can accommodate maximum 250 lbs.

Meepo Mini 2 comes with 90 x 62mm, 78A wheels. The wheels are very strong for a shortboard. The same wheels come in Meepo V3 and Meepo Shuffle V4 – in spite of them being longboard skateboards. So basically on Meepo Mini 2 – you can do a little off road skateboarding too! On streets – these wheels rock. You get better balance and even manoeuvrability is great.

Price

Meepo Boards are not priced heavily and looking at Meepo Mini 2 parts and specifications – the price is legit. However you are going to find cheaper shortboard skateboards but none of them comes close to this one. In short – it is a quality product – which is going to equal off – all the dollars you pay for it.

Specs

  • Max Speed: 29mph
  • Max Range: 11/20 miles
  • Length: 30 inches
  • Weight: 16lbs/18lbs. (7.8kg)
  • Dimensions: 30’x9′
  • Motor Power: 540w x 2 = 1080 Watts
  • Charging Time: 2 Hours
  • Remote: M4S
  • Trucks: Meepo Shredder
  • Weight Capacity: 330 lbs

Pros

  • Extremely Fast
  • Quality Skateboard Accessories and Parts
  • Strong Wheels
  • Optimum Load Limit
  • Light Weight Shortboard
  • Powerful Motor

Cons

  • Expensive in comparison to other shortboards – however the quality and the specifications of the board – makes it totally a good investment.
  • Not many cons – 🙂
Meepo Mini 2 Shortboard Skateboard – Best For

Meepo Mini 2 is undoubtedly the best shortboard skateboard. The board is great for students going to college and schools and perfect for office goers and also for female skateboarders. It is extremely portable and carrying it on and off buses and trains is very convenient. Considering the shortboard’s speed it is good for cruising too and even a little off road skateboarding will never do it any harm because of the strong built.

Teamgee H20 Mini

Teamgee H20 Mini

# Electric Shortboard Skateboard with a Functional Kicktail

Teamgee H20 Mini is one of the three H Series Compact Electric Skateboards – H20 T, H20 and H20 Mini. The H series by Teamgee is known to produce some of the thinnest boards and H20 mini is no exception. It is a great shortboard skateboard – which fits every skateboard carrier bag and is also one of the cheap shortboards.

Motor and Battery

Teamgee H20 Mini is equipped with 2 x 450 Watts motor and a 7.5Ah battery. 900 Watts gives you a top speed of 24 mph and the battery lasts for 18 miles. If you compare with the first electric shortboard skateboard reviewed in this post – Meepo Mini 2 ER – than H20 Mini is 5 miles slower per hour and covers 2 miles lesser.

However in comparison to the Meepo Mini Standard variant – Teamgee lasts 7 miles longer! This is one of the important factors to consider – if you are looking for a longer range shortboard and do not want to spend 500 dollars (Meepo Mini ER almost costs $500).

More than the speed we liked the acceleration of the board. It’s very fast. Switching between the 4 speed modes is also easy and smooth. Might be because of the Hobbywing ESC. Climbing range at 25% is also decent. However climbing hills on this board might not be easy.

Build and Design

Teamgee H20 Mini is made up of 7 Canadian maple layers. The deck measures 31 inches. What makes this electric shortboard skateboard – stand out among the rest is – it’s functional kicktail! There are not many electric shortboards – which give you this kind of carve – in fact Meepo’s Mini 2 has a flat blunt edge!

The kicktail is a welcome feature – for those who want to cruise more and perform some of the basic tricks. It also enhances the speed and offers better turning.

H20 Mini weighs 16 lbs – the exact same as the Meepo Mini Standard version. The board is very compact and very convenient. Carrying it around is pretty comfortable. The deck accommodates 286 lbs which is appropriate. Most of the Americans are lesser than 130 kg. Meepo Mini 2 which can carry 330 lbs is a rare shortboard absorbing this much of load. Generally any deck which can carry 250 lbs is more than enough.

H20 Mini comes with 80 x 54mm PU wheels. The wheels suit the shortboard. We rode the board thrice – and the deck felt comfortable – with wheels offering a smooth – bump free street ride. An important upgrade is that the latest version of the H20 Mini is compatible with 103mm rubber wheels and 120mm cloudwheels. If you install the cloudwheels than the board will be functional even on difficult terrains.

Another positive about this Teamgee Shortboard is their latest remote. It is quite sleek and just has 2 buttons and a throttle. Controlling your ride becomes very convenient and easy.

Price

Teamgee H20 Mini is quite cheaper – in comparison to Meepo Mini 2 and – costlier than other shortboard skateboards reviewed later in the post. However – the price is just and fair. The specifications, built and especially the mileage – makes every dollar you pay – a good investment.

Specs

  • Max Speed: 24mph
  • Max Range: 18 miles
  • Length: 31 inches
  • Weight: 16lbs (7.8kg)
  • Dimensions: 31′ x 9′ x 0.4′
  • Motor Power: 450 x 2 = 900 Watts
  • Charging Time: 2 Hours
  • Remote: Hobbywing
  • Weight Capacity: 286 lbs

Pros

  • Long Range
  • Reputed Brand
  • Good Load Limit
  • Extremely Light and thin
  • Functional Kicktail

Cons

  • Considering strong wheels – one more ply in the deck seems necessary.
  • Not many cons with this shortboard either – 🙂
Teamgee H20 Mini Shortboard Skateboard – Best For

Teamgee H20 Mini is a great shortboard skateboard for commuters and students. The board has all the necessary equipment and the quality is wonderful. It is thin, compact, costs less and comes from a reputed brand. It’s long range gives it an edge over Meepo Mini 2 – however Mini 2 is longed for it’s speed.

The best thing about Teamgee H20 Mini and Meepo Mini 2 is that – both these – can be used as All Terrain Electric Shortboards because of the motor, strong deck and hard wheels. Other shortboard skateboards are only good for commuting – but cannot be ridden off tracks. Even the Best All Terrain Electric Skateboards are extremely heavy and cost a fortune. H20 Mini and Meepo Mini 2 both weigh 16 lbs and dost cost much either. Having a compact commute option with you – on difficult terrains – is the best you can get.

Hiboy S11 Shortboard

Hiboy S11 Shortboard

# Lightest Electric Shortboard Skateboard

Hiboy S11 weighs just 8.5 lbs! 8.5 lbs is like a little above 3 kg! And this first line is enough for us to introduce Hiboy S11 to you. It is the one of the lightest electric skateboard shortboard you are ever going to stand upon!

Hiboy is an electric skateboards and electric scooters manufacturing brand and has it’s branches located internationally. After some of the high performing electric skateboards – like the famous Hiboy S22 – they came up with this model – S11. The model name S11 – is probably because it is just half of the S22 model.

S11 is for kids and teenagers. It is not a high end electric board. In fact you cannot compare this to other shortboard skateboards either. Teamgee H20 and Meepo Mini – although mini shortboards – have specifications – which almost doubles S11.

Motor and Battery

Hiboy S11 is equipped with a 350W hub motor – which results in 12.5 miles of top speed. 25.2V 4Ah battery runs the board for 9 miles approximate. Considering other shortboards – the motor power is less than half and so is the speed.

Although slow – the power output is smooth. And even battery life is pretty strong. Another positive is it’s push to start feature (if the battery is on) provided it just has 350 Watts of power.

The shortboard has 4 speed modes and 4 brake modes. Although surprising as the top speed is just 12.5 miles – it is a welcome addition for kids. The speed and the brakes – taper very nicely and hence you will not be jolted when you change from slow to fast or apply brakes.

Build and Design

S11 has a solid built. The deck is made up of 7 layers of IPX4 waterproof maple. The same number of layers are in 16 lbs Teamgee H20 and this one weighs just half of it – so you can imaging the sturdiness and fullness.

The deck measures 29.2×7.8×5.6 in which is appropriate even for adults and not just teenagers and kids. What we found lacking is a kicktail – in the nose or the tail. As this is mostly a fun and to play around shortboard – a kicktail would have increased the joy for kids. And because it is lightweight – even performing basic tricks would have been doable.

S11 has polyurethane medium size 2.8 inches tires. The wheels are good for streets and offer great balance. And as it is a lightweight board – something heavy – becomes a necessity to ground it. Of course you can not take it to off roads whatsoever – but that is just because of it’s low hill climbing range We do not think that the wheels or the deck would be affected because of bumping.

Price

Hiboy S11 – is very cheap is you compare it with other shortboards. It is less than half for what you will pay for a Meepo or a Teamgee. The good part is – it is extremely durable. We have seen – fully functional high end boards crumble – but this one has an extremely solid built. And you can expect the boards to not last if the kids are running it – however S11 does last. So it’s durability is where your dollars pay off.

Specs

  • Max Speed: 12.4 mph
  • Max Range: 9 miles
  • Length: 29 inches
  • Weight: 8.5 lbs (3.8kg)
  • Dimensions: 29.2 × 7.8 × 5.6 inches
  • Motor Power: 350 Watts
  • Charging Time: 2 Hours
  • Remote: Wireless
  • Weight Capacity: 180 lbs

Pros

  • Extremely Lightweight
  • 4 speed modes and 4 brake modes
  • A tough and durable deck
  • Best for Kids and Teenagers

Cons

  • No Kicktail
  • Not very fast (in comparison to high performing shortboards)
  • Low Mileage (in comparison to high performing shortboards)
Hioy S11 Mini Shortboard Skateboard – Best For

Hiboy S11 is designed for kids and teenagers – who want to experience electric skateboards. The shortboard is perfect for beginners. There is no meaning buying a Meepo Mini 2 or even Meepo Shuffle V4 – if you kid is stepping on an electric skateboard – for the first time. However because of lack of shortboards like Hiboy S11 – many teenagers buy high end boards.

S11 is more than enough if you want to cruise to schools or have fun riding along with your friends. Secondly it is cheaper – so why invest $500 dollars if your requirements are fulfilled by a half costing board. Most importantly – it is a great board for female skateboarders too – adult. And is it is compact – it can be even used by them to commute to offices and more.

Wookrays H2S Shortboard

Wookrays H2S Shortboard

# Cheapest Electric Shortboard Skateboard
Wookrays Most Reviewed Shortboard Skateboard
Wookrays Most Reviewed Shortboard Skateboard

Wookrays H2S has thousands of reviews online and is one of the most famous shortboard skateboard within young skaters. One of the possible reasons for its heavy demand – is it’s cheap price. You can possibly get 3 Wookrays at the price of one Meepo Mini 2 ER!

Motor and Battery

Wookrays Shortboard has the same motor power as the Hiboy S11 – 350 Watts. The watts delivers approximately the same speed – 12.4 mph. What we did not appreciate much was the low mileage. It comes with 29.4V 2200mah which runs for 5 miles on a single charge.

Although it is a kids and teens shortboard – but in our opinion – 5 miles or 8 km is too short a distance. Hiboy S11 covers 9 miles – which seems acceptable. With a radium of 5 miles – you can just go to any destination one way especially if you are living – out of New York or other metropolitan cities.

Wookrays has 3 speed modes and is controlled by 2.4Ghz wireless remote. We liked the remote – it is very easy to operate and works pretty smooth.

Build and Design

Wookrays H2S has a pretty strong built – if not a strong battery. The deck is made up of 7 layers of maple and measures – 25.4 x 6.8 x 5.5 inches. By the dimensions you can make out that it is very small in size but can support 80 kg of weight. Might be it is the shortest shortboard running. H11 and other shortboards reviewed – all measure up to near about 30 inches.

The deck is concave and has a small kicktail. Kicktail is always welcome – especially in kids and teenagers skateboards. With the added kicktail – gliding the board and even skating manually – without electric power – becomes smooth.

H2S has 70 Millimeters polyurethane wheels. If you convert it into inches – it is approximately 2.75 inches – the exact same size as in Hiboy S11. The wheels are hard and offers very good balance absorbing nearly all the street unevenness.

Price

Wookrays H2S is one of the cheapest electric shortboard skateboards available. Hiboy S11 – which is nearly similar in all it’s specifications – costs one third more than Wookrays. In fact – you will get some of the non electric skateboard brands – charging you more than the this motorized shortboard! As we commented earlier – the price can be one of the reason it is so popular.

Specs

  • Max Speed: 12.4 mph
  • Max Range: 5 miles
  • Length: 25 inches
  • Weight: 8.6 lbs
  • Dimensions: 25.4 x 6.8 x 5.5 inches
  • Motor Power: 350 Watts
  • Charging Time: 2 Hours
  • Remote: 2.4Ghz
  • Weight Capacity: 176 lbs

Pros

  • Cheapest Shortboard Skateboard
  • Extremely Lightweight
  • Smallest Deck Size
  • Comes with a Kicktail
  • Best for Kids and Teenagers

Cons

  • Very Low Mileage
  • Not very fast (in comparison to high performing shortboards)
Wookrays H2S Shortboard Skateboard – Best For

Wookrays H2S is a great shortboard to start with. It is very portable – weighing just 3.5 kg and extremely small in size. For kids, teenagers, female skateboarders – in fact for anybody weighing less than 80 kg – it is a good electric machine to commute. It’s price makes it super affordable. You get motorized wheels at the cost of a non electric skateboard. You will realise your dollars worth – even if you use H2S as a non motorized shortboard.

Mileage is an issue – but if you are just using this just for fun and cruising – then it can suffice. If you are looking to take this to colleges and offices – then buy an additional battery.

Note – Wookrays H2S Shortboard Skateboard reviews are based on actual user experiences and is only available on Amazon.

KYNG Shortboard Skateboard

KYNG Skateboard Shortboard

# Heavily Reviewed Electric Shortboard Skateboard
KYNG Shortboard Skateboard Electric
The Image is taken from Jolly Fam’s Youtube Video – Just look at the Kid’s Expressions!

KYNG shortboards are equally popular like the Wookrays with kids and teenagers. In comparison to the Wookrays low mileage board – KYNG runs fast and long. The only reason why we have reviewed it after the Wookray’s H2S – is that it has a better sale – because of it’s low price.

Motor and Battery

KYNG shortboard is equipped with 350 Watts motor – the exact same power as in Hiboy and Wookrays. However the top speed is better than both the models. KYNG goes 15 mph! Battery power is way more than both the above reviewed models. It has a 4000 maAh battery can power the board for 10 miles long.

Regenerative braking further saves battery power. Like all the other shortboards – the lithium battery can be charged within 2 hours. We have two KYNG’s and we are very comfortable with the speed and even with the mileage to an extent. Going uphills is also quite smooth.

The skateboard has 4 speed modes and is controlled by wireless remote. The remote is a look alike of the Teamgee’s Mini model having same two buttons and a throttle and is very easy to use. Wookrays has 3 speed modes – just for your comparison.

Build and Design

KYNG shortboard’s deck is made up of 7 layers of maple with IP54 waterproof grade. The deck is 29 inches long and has a fish tail shape. It is even positioned very low to the ground – in comparison to other shortboards. All this and the reverse mounted bridge makes the deck very comfortable and perfectly balanced.

This model is again one of the extremely lightweight shortboards – reviewed in this post. It is just 9 lbs of weight and carries 175 pounds.

The PU wheels are also pretty strong. They are almost the same size and hardness as in S11 and Wookrays.

Price

All KYNG’s Skateboards and Longboards are priced very cheap and this Shortboard is no exception. But as we stated before – it will cost you 50 dollars more than the Wookray’s Shortboard. However those 50 dollars pay off – with extra mileage and higher speed.

Specs

  • Max Speed: 15 mph
  • Max Range: 10 miles
  • Length: 29 inches
  • Weight: 9 lbs
  • Dimensions: 29 inches
  • Motor Power: 350 Watts
  • Charging Time: 2 Hours
  • Remote: Wireless hand held
  • Weight Capacity: 175 lbs

Pros

  • Larger Deck Size
  • Extremely Lightweight
  • Comes with a Fishtail
  • Good Mileage
  • Fast Shortboard
  • Performs well on hills

Cons

  • 50 dollars expensive than Wookrays
  • Not many cons with this Shortboard too 🙂
KYNG Shortboard Skateboard – Best For

KYNG Shortboard is fast, runs deep and has a longer deck which can suit not just kids and teenagers but grown ups too. In comparison to the Wookray’s we would definitely suggest you KYNG – if you are looking for fare miles. It has portability, durability and you can get this skateboard’s parts all over the US.

Note – KYNG Shortboard Skateboard reviews are based on actual user experiences and is only available on Amazon.

Tooluck JKing Shortboard

Tooluck JKing Shortboard

# Electric Shortboard Skateboard with Frog Lights
Tooluck Electric Shortboard Skateboard

Tooluck Jking – brand name – Tooluck – is again an exact same model as the KYNG and the Hiboy S11 shortboard models. There are only some minor differences – which we are going to compare in this post.

All the 4 models (including Tooluck Shortboard) – which feature 350 Watts Hub Motor – perform the same more or less. Only the Wookrays Shortboard is distinct – featuring a 25 inch small deck and being the cheapest.

We assume Tooluck markets all it’s skateboards on Amazon, Ebay and Wallmart in collaboration with these online giants. It might not have it’s own marketplace opposed to Hiboy, Meepo and Teamgee.

Motor and Battery

Tooluck Shortboard has the same 350 Watts motor. It gives the board a top speed of 12mph. The battery is 29.4V 2000 mAh giving 8 miles of range and can be charged in 2 hours.

The motor does not make much noise. The Hiboy S11 also has a similar no noise motor – but we did not feel the same with Wookrays and not on KYNG too.

Tooluck gives you three modes to ride. The low, medium and the high. Transition between the modes is surprisingly efficient. Acceleration and deceleration is also rapid.

Build and Design

Tooluck JKing is made up of 7 layers. The deck is sturdy and balances well. It measures the regular 27.5 x 8.7 x 5.5 inches. We loved the sandpaper griptape – which makes the polished wood beneath non slippery.

The Shortboard weighs a little more over 8 lbs – again making it a super portable board. The good thing however about Tooluck is the maximised load. It can support more than 220 lbs. All the three 350 Watts Skateboards reviewed above just make up to 175 to 180 lbs. These 40 increased lbs – is an added advantage making it an option for full size skateboarders too.

Tooluck comes with 2 frog eye lamps lights. The lights are wonderful and increases visibility in low lit and dark areas. No other shortboard reviewed above has this feature. And we personally are obsessed with illuminated skateboards and shortboards.

The wheels are the same as in other shortboards. Advertised as Longboard Wheels – we did not find anything out of the ordinary. However – the wheels are strong and absorb shocks well.

Price

Tooluck again is an economic shortboard skateboard. But we would give it a little edge over other 350 Watts boards – because of the added lbs and two frog lights. Rest almost everything matches the other three shortboards reviewed above. It is always better if you are getting something extra although you are asked to pay the same!

Specs

  • Max Speed: 12 mph
  • Max Range: 8 miles
  • Length: 28 inches
  • Weight: 8 lbs (approximately)
  • Dimensions: 27.5 x 8.7 x 5.5 inches
  • Motor Power: 350 Watts
  • Charging Time: 2 Hours
  • Remote: 2.4Ghz
  • Weight Capacity: 220 lbs

Pros

  • 220 Lbs of Load Support
  • Extremely Lightweight Shortboard
  • 2 extra frog eye lights
  • Very Cheap

Cons

  • No hill climbing inclination
  • No kicktail
Tooluch JKing Shortboard Skateboard – Best For

Tooluck JKing Shortboard is a great board for wights upto 100 kg. As it is a shortboard skateboard – it makes a great portable commute for office and college goers. It is extremely lightweight and comparatively it has a nicer customer care support.

Tooluck Skateboards are manufactured locally in US. This also is an additional benefit – because the delivery time gets reduced and you have access to the skateboard parts and other accessories.

Note – Tooluck Shortboard Skateboard reviews are based on actual user experiences and is only available on Amazon.

Blitzart Mini Flash

Blitzart Mini Flash

# Electric Shortboard Skateboard for Full Size Riders
Blitzart Mini Flash - Stylish Electric Shortboard Skateboard
The middle one is Mini Flash. Image from Blitzarts.

Blitzart Mini Flash is the smallest of all Blitzart Skateboards. In the photo above you can see the three best sellers by Blitzart – with Mini Flash featured in the middle.

Blitzart is based on South California – and till this date – they are shipping successfully to all the remote places in the US. Their boards are targeted to the economic skateboarders. Mini Flash is their only shortboard skateboard – and has got a lot of appraise.

Motor and Battery

First we reviewed Shortboards with 1000 Watts of power, then there were 4 boards with 350 Watts hub motor. Now as we are moving down in the post – we are reviewing boards having even lesser watts.

Blitzart Mini Flash has 250 Watts hub motor. It powers the shortboard for a top speed of 12mph. Considering lesser watts – the speed mentioned by Blitzart seemed a bit exaggeration to us. But we contacted some of the Mini Flash riders and confirmed with them about its authenticity. So 12 miles is a clear go.

The motor comes with a 24V 4.4Ah battery. You can go 8 miles straight on a full charge. And 8 miles is still better than the 5 mile range Wookrays. Mini Flash riders say that the battery needs 2.5 hours to charge and not 2 hours as mentioned by Blitzart. But even 2.5 hours is doable as long as the battery lasts long. The brakes are regenerative but they do not save as much battery power as expected.

You can see the effect of lesser watts – in the reduced speed modes. The shortboard comes with just two speed modes – beginner and advanced. Blitzart remodelled the remote which comes with this shortboard in 2020 – and it is wonderful. Other than the basics – is has some newly added features.

Build and Design

Mini Flash has 7 layers in total. 5 layers of maple and 2 layers of bamboo. Blitzart did this innovative thing by adding the bamboo – because it increased the board’s load capacity to 250 to 270 pounds as opposed to 180 pounds in Hiboy S11, Wookrays and even in KYNG.

The deck is extremely sturdy and because of bamboo it is more flexible in comparison to other shortboards. It measures 28 x 7.5 x 5 inches and weighs just 9 lbs. The reduced weight makes it super portable.

Mini Flash has 2.8 inches wheels – the exact same as in Hiboy’s. The wheels are strong and are made up of Polyester. Blitzart guarantees hill climbing too – but the users decline. The wheels might support but we doubt the motor to give it the necessary torque and power to push it up.

Price

Blitzart Mini Flash is quite cheap. Although Wookray’s is the cheapest – but all the added dollars you pay for gets returned wisely in the added mileage and the extra load support. Blitzarts are semi branded skateboards – not like Boosted Boards – but still are looked upon as a brand. So even selling the boards after your optimum use becomes easier.

Specs

  • Max Speed: 12 mph
  • Max Range: 8 miles
  • Length: 28 inches
  • Weight: 9 lbs
  • Dimensions: 28 x 7.5 x 5
  • Motor Power: 250 Watts
  • Charging Time: 2.5 Hours
  • Remote: Wireless with a wrist belt
  • Weight Capacity: 250 lbs

Pros

  • 250 Lbs of Load Support
  • Extremely Lightweight
  • Kicktail Shortboard
  • Good customer support

Cons

  • No hill climbing inclination
  • Only 2 speed modes
  • Only 250 Watts of motor power
Blitzart Mini Flash Shortboard Skateboard – Best For

Blitzart Mini Flash can support 250 lbs. The load capacity makes it a universal medium priced economic shortboard skateboard. Hiboy, Wookrays and KYNG – will not support your weight post teenage – and Meepo Mini 2 and Teamgee H20 Mini are super expensive. So as an adult you are not left with many choices. Mini Flash can come very handy as an office or college commute board because of it’s portability.

The low weight of the deck and 250 watts not so powerful motor makes it a wonderful and safe shortboard for youngsters and kids too.

Backfire Mini Shortboard

Backfire Mini Shortboard

# Branded Electric Shortboard Skateboard
Backfire Mini Super Electric Shortboard Skateboard

Backfire Mini is not a shortboard to be ranked as last in the best shortboard skateboards list. So do not get us wrong – we are only reviewing it at the very end of the post – because of it’s price and availability. Other than that it is a board which goes hand in hand with the Meepo Mini 2. In fact you will find #backfire mini vs meepo mini 2 trending on many of the social media platforms.

Backfire is a huge brand – with some of the most high performing electric skateboards, longboards and even shortboards. They are located in UK we suppose but don’t worry recently they ship all over the globe. In US they have a local warehouse and shipping is free.

Motor and Battery

Backfire Mini is no Hiboy S11 or Woorkays or Blitzart. It features a mammoth 2 x 450 Watts motor. The motor power is the same as Teamgee’s shortboard. The watts drive the board at a top speed of 26mph which is nearly same as H20 Mini – which clocks 24mph. However the fastest electric shortboard is Meepo Mini 2 which surpasses the Backfire by 3 miles clocking 29mph.

50.4V 175Wh battery lasts for 11 miles the most the same as Meepo’s standard version. But unfortunately there is no ER version with the Backfire’s model. If you want to go long – you always have an option to keep an additional battery along.

The strong motor and longboard wheels – both enhances your hill climbing experience. The shortboard has 3 modes – with a special turbo button – which increases the acceleration 20 percent more.

Build and Design

Backfire Mini has aerospace carbon fiber deck. Carbon Fiber decks are the latest development in the skateboarding world and are deeply in demand because of their unimaginable shock absorbing potential. They increase the flexibility of the board adding strength and decreasing weight. Concave runs pretty deep and the deck also features double kicktails.

The deck just weighs 6kg – making it one of the light weighing shortboards in comparison to Meepo Mini 2 and Teamgee H20. Both of the shortboards weigh 7.8 kg. The reduced weight adds significantly to the portability of the board.

In addition to the carbon fiber – we loved the wheels and the tires. Although it is a mini skateboard – it comes equipped with longboard wheels measuring 85mm. They are just huge and offers great balance. Drifting and sliding becomes easier and landing after ollies – will not affect the bearings or the trucks.

But that is not it. The wheels are swappable and you can change them to 165mm extra large wheels. Just imagine how much more you can ride on. The large wheels are a welcome addition if you want to go off roads.

Price

Backfire Mini is a medium priced board. You cannot say it to be cheap and nor expensive like a boosted board. Although it will give you every single penny of worth. In fact – boards like these last so long – that in actual you save yourself a lot more – in gasoline and fuels. The skateboarding experience and cruising is just bonus!

Magneto Mini Cruiser

Magneto Mini Cruiser

# Non Electric Shortboard Skateboard for All
Magneto Mini Cruiser Shortboard Skateboard

Magneto Mini Cruisers are the best in non electric shortboard skateboards. Aesthetically they are the most pleasing boards. Look at the pictures above and also in the Quick Links section. They feature one of the most durable decks and are super portable.

Magneto is a trusted and a very well known brand. They manufacture some of the most premium and high quality longboards and skateboards. The newly launched Glider Collection is superb and breath taking. The mini cruiser reviewed here is also one of the most in demand shortboard skateboard. If something non electric, and portable is needed – then it ought to be Magneto’s Mini.

Build and Design

Magneto Mini Cruiser is made up of 6 ply Canadian Maple. The deck measures – 27.5″ x 7.5″ and is one of the sturdiest – you will put your foot upon. On top it is covered by a premium sand grit finished grip tape. It gives the needed rough edge for you to stand and balance.

You can chose from 6 pleasing finishes. Tiki, Heartbeat, Music and Tribal are some of innovative colors introduced by Magneto. The brand is famous for it’s designs – and is one of the reason for their heavy demand. Even their longboards are uniquely made.

Mini Cruiser is a great board for performing ollies, mannies and even advance skateboarding skills. The deck has Double kick tails so you can switch it from both the sides. The trucks are made from heavy quality aluminum gravity cast with a 5 inches hanger. Kingpin is made from Polyurethane – attached at an angle of 55 degrees. Even if the board falls from a height, with you on top – it will have a firm grounding and you will not need to replace trucks and the pin frequently.

Wheels are 60 mm x 51mm with Shore 78A durometer hardness and has a wheelbase of 18.5″. The wheels are very strong and made of SHR polyurethane – the same polymer used in the kingpin. For cruising, gliding, carving and tech sliding the wheels are the best. However we have never used our own Magneto Cruiser on off roads and hence it will be difficult to comment on it. Mostly if you avoid using it on difficult terrains if would be good.

The shortboard can support 275 lbs! This is one of the most important advantage. It is a board for one and all. Other shortboards do not support this much of weight as a result if a slightly heavy weight rider sets his foots upon – the board snips. And more surprising is the board’s weight. It weighs 5 lbs only!

Modern Shortboards

Modern shortboards especially the electric ones – are not limited to just vert and street skating. You can cover short and long distances and use them outdoors and in large spaces.

Electric Shortboards and mini boards are as comfortable as long boards. They enable efficient and smooth movement. Aluminum trucks and polyurethane wheels – with 7 to 9 decks and fiberglass are just enough for you to go 15 to 20 Non electric shortboards are wonderful too. You can cruise, slalom and even use them for downhill racings.

Below we have reviewed best non electric and electric shortboards – and specified their use. Check the “Best For” section to know – what this shortboard is best used for.

Shortboards reviewed in this post – are selected by skateboard experts and after filtering thousands of consumer opinions.

What size is a Shortboard Skateboard?

The main difference between a shortboard skateboard and a longboard is it’s size. Any skateboard measuring 28″ to 32″ is termed as a shortboard. However length is not the only parameter. An equally important parameter is it’s width which is mostly ignored.

Shortboards does not mean they are shorter in width. Width is related to an individual’s height. So you can go short on length – but always chose a 8 inch skateboard (width) if you are a full grown adult. If you are selecting a shortboard for your kids and young ones measuring 3’5″ than a 8 inch skateboard will be oversized. Go for a smaller deck width – of 6.5″.

An inch bigger (than shortboard’s length) is Longboards zone – measuring from 33″ to 58″. The longest longboard measures 60 inches in size. You can lay over – and it will suffice your head and toes.

Note – Length of a Skateboard is measured from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail.

Longboard vs Shortboard Skateboard

Longboard and Shortboard Skateboard both have completely different uses and applications. In short – longboard is for cruising and commuting and shortboards are for skateboarding tricks. However this “longboard vs shortboard skateboard” debate needs more clarification.

A shortboard skateboard is specifically designed for indoor skateboarding – like in skate parks. Skateboarding competitions or skateboard games (video games) – all make use of shortboards.

Shortboards enhance performing tricks. They are designed to go off ground and let’s you get some air. You can skateboard on ramps, rails, bowls, copes, pipes only on a shortboard. “Street Skating” and “Vert Skating” are some of the terms – referring shortboard skateboarding.

A longboard will not be useful on verts and handrails. They are bulky, heavy and long. Pulling them off the ground is pretty difficult and can lead to injuries. Longboards are for cruising the broadwalks and beaches, downhill longboarding, slaloming and travelling really long distances. They offer comfort and leg space to the skateboarders.

However Modern Shortboard Skateboards are not limited to just streets and verts and even longboards are not just limited to cruising. The industry now has shortboards and longboards which can be used both ways.

Why call it “Shortboard Skateboard”? Isn’t Shortboard enough?

Do you need to name it a “shortboard skateboard” always?

Well technically “Yes” – if you are in a non skateboarding community. Shortboard without the suffix “skateboard” – refers to surfboards. If you google shortboard – then you will only find surfboard results. To find a smaller skateboard – you need to type “shortboard skateboard” and then google will show you all smaller size mini electric skateboards and non electric shorter skateboards.

Because of their concise shape they are the best ones for skateboarding tricks. You can do ollies, flips and lot more. An all round skateboard or a double kick tail one – is the best one if you are skateboarding in parks.
